What Type 4X and IP66 Cover Together
The two ratings protect against different things and both matter. IP66 is dust-tight and protected against powerful water jets; Type 4X additionally covers corrosion and external ice formation. For a washdown area or a coastal installation the corrosion component is usually the governing one — water ingress alone would be covered by the IP rating.
