Industry Applications for the 2300/20-02

Use it for:

  • Turbomachinery Protection: Monitor radial vibration and thrust position in steam and gas turbines, preventing catastrophic failures.
  • Pump and Compressor Monitoring: Track velocity and acceleration on rotating equipment to schedule maintenance before unplanned stops.
  • Process Variable Integration: Combine temperature and vibration data from a single unit, reducing wiring complexity and panel space.

Installation & Setup Guidance

Mount the 2300/20-02 on a panel or DIN rail using the included adapter. Connect DC power within 18~36 Vdc, ensuring total draw does not exceed 7.5 W. For proximity transducers, verify supply voltage is between -22.8 and –25.2 Vdc. Use the RJ-45 Ethernet port for 10Base-T/100Base-TX communication; cable length must not exceed 100 meters. Configure channels via the monitor configuration software to match your sensor types and scale factors.

Maintenance & Reliability

Periodically inspect the unit for dust accumulation on the LCD and BNC connectors. Verify relay operation by testing contact resistance (should be ≤1 Ω closed, ≥1 MΩ open). The real-time clock battery lasts up to 38 years powered at 50°C, reducing maintenance intervals. Ensure ambient humidity stays below 95% non-condensing to prevent corrosion.

Compatibility & Integration

The 2300/20-02 supports Bently transducers and 2/3-wire custom sensors for accelerometers, Velomitor, and Proximitor. It communicates with System 1 software via Ethernet, storing up to 5 alarm data captures during network disruptions (requires System 1 Evolution 21.1 or newer and firmware 3.2 or newer). The module also provides three buffered outputs through BNC connectors for external analysis.

Selection Guide & Purchasing Advice

When selecting a vibration monitor, confirm your sensor types and required outputs. The 2300/20-02 includes 4-20 mA outputs and multiple explosive atmosphere certifications (ATEX/IECEx/CSA).
