Industry Applications

Its robust stainless steel case and PPS tip withstand high temperatures and corrosive atmospheres. The 2.0 m cable with miniature coaxial ClickLoc connector simplifies installation in confined spaces, reducing signal loss. For steam turbine shaft vibration monitoring, the probe's linear range and recommended -9 Vdc gap ensure accurate data for early fault detection.

Installation & Setup Guidance

Mount the probe using the M10 x 1 thread, ensuring the maximum thread engagement of 15 mm is not exceeded. Apply the recommended forward mount probe case torque of 11.2 N·m (100 in·lbf) for standard mounting; for the first three threads, use 7.5 N·m (66 in·lbf). Field wiring should use 0.2 to 1.5 mm² (16 to 24 AWG) three-conductor shielded triad cable, with a maximum length of 305 meters (1,000 feet) between the Proximitor Sensor and monitor. Avoid exposing the probe to temperatures below -34°C (-30°F) to prevent premature pressure seal failure.

Maintenance & Reliability

Inspect the probe and cable periodically for physical damage or wear, especially in high-vibration or high-temperature zones. The probe is designed to seal differential pressure between tip and case using a Viton O-ring. Although not pressure tested before shipment, the seal integrity should be verified during routine maintenance. The standard probe operates reliably from -52°C to +177°C, while the extended range tip handles up to +218°C.

Precision Vibration Monitoring with the 3300 XL Probe

In industrial rotating machinery, undetected shaft vibration can lead to catastrophic failure, unplanned downtime, and costly repairs. The Bently Nevada 330103-00-05-20-02-CN 3300 XL 8 mm Proximity Probe provides the accurate, non-contact displacement measurements essential for protecting critical assets like steam turbines, compressors, and pumps. This probe is engineered for harsh environments, offering a linear range of 2 mm (80 mils) from 0.25 to 2.3 mm (10 to 90 mils) from the target, with a recommended radial vibration gap setting of -9 Vdc (approximately 1.27 mm / 50 mils).

Compatibility & Integration

This probe is part of the 3300 XL series and is designed for use with Bently Nevada Proximitor Sensors and monitoring systems. For intrinsically safe installations, use zener barriers per drawing 141092 or galvanic isolators to achieve Class I, Zone 0 ratings (AEx/Ex ia IIC T5...T1 Ga). For non-incendive circuits, follow drawing 140979 for Class I, Zone 2 (AEx/Ex nA IIC T5...T1 Gc).

Selection Guide & Purchasing Advice

When selecting a replacement or spare probe, verify the total length, connector type, and agency approval match your system requirements.
