Product Description

When a Legacy Line Needs Two More High-Current Outputs

A packaging line retrofit required two additional 24V DC outputs to drive pneumatic solenoid valves. The existing Advantys STB island had spare slots, but the load demanded 2 A per channel. The STBDDO3230 solved this by providing a standard digital output module with source channels rated at 2 A each. Consequently, the retrofit avoided a full island replacement.

STBDDO3230 Technical Specifications

The module operates on a 24V DC signal type and draws 80 mA at 5V DC from the bus. It uses the STBXBA1000 I/O base (13.9 mm width) and requires the STBPDT3100 PDM for 24V DC supply. The table below summarizes the verified electrical and physical parameters.

Another failure mode involves thermal stress. Although operating temperature is not available in the datasheet, the IP20 rating means the module is sensitive to conductive dust and moisture. In addition, the 520 µs off-to-on response time may degrade if the PDM supply voltage drops below 24V DC. Consequently, monitor the STBPDT3100 output with a calibrated meter.

Integration and Hot Swapping

The STBDDO3230 supports hot swapping. This feature allows replacement without shutting down the island. However, always follow the manufacturer's safety manual for live insertion procedures. The module communicates via the Advantys STB bus; no external gateway is required for basic digital output function.
