Product Overview
When your process demands precise measurement of diverse analog signals, the GE IC695ALG600 universal analog input module delivers the flexibility you need. Part of the PACSystems RX3i family, this module accepts voltage, current, resistance, thermocouple, and RTD inputs across eight general-purpose channels plus two dedicated cold junction compensation (CJC) channels. Formerly manufactured by GE Intelligent Platforms and now supported by Emerson Automation, the IC695ALG600 integrates seamlessly into existing RX3i installations.
Technical Specifications
The IC695ALG600 organizes its eight input channels into two groups of four. Each group can be configured independently for any combination of signal types. Supported current signals include 0–20 mA, 4–20 mA, and ±20 mA. Voltage ranges cover ±50 mV, ±150 mV, 0–5 V, 1–5 V, 0–10 V, and ±10 V. For resistance measurements, the module handles 0 to 250, 500, 1000, 2000, 3000, or 4000 ohms. RTD support includes PT 385/3916, N 618/672, NiFe 518, and CU 426 types. Thermocouple types B, C, E, J, K, N, R, S, and T are all supported. The module dissipates a maximum of 5.4 Watts and draws 350 mA at 3.3 V and 400 mA at 5 V. A configurable input filter offers frequencies of 8, 12, 16, 40, 200, or 1000 Hz. Maximum RTD cable impedance is 25 ohms. Operating temperature range is 0 to 60 °C (32 to 140 °F); storage range is –40 to 85 °C (–40 to 185 °F).
Industry Applications
In chemical processing plants, the IC695ALG600 monitors multiple temperature points using thermocouples and RTDs, providing critical data for reactor control. Its ability to mix voltage, current, and resistance inputs on a single module reduces the number of spare modules required. For water treatment facilities, the module handles 4–20 mA loop-powered sensors for pressure and flow, while simultaneously reading RTD temperatures in clarifiers. This consolidation simplifies wiring and lowers overall system cost.
Installation & Setup Guidance
Mount the IC695ALG600 into any slot of an RX3i universal backplane. It cannot be placed in remote or expansion backplanes. Use a Box-style (IC694TBB032), Extended Box-style (IC694TBB132), Spring-style (IC694TBS032), or Extended Spring-style (IC694TBS132) terminal block for signal termination. Extended terminal blocks are recommended because their larger covers accommodate wires with thicker insulation and shield wires. Configure the module using Proficy Machine Edition (PME) version 5.0 SP1A LD-PLC Hotfix 1 or later. The module requires firmware version 2.80 or later. Status LEDs on the front panel indicate Module Status, Field Status, and Terminal Block presence.
Maintenance & Reliability
Routine inspection of the terminal block connections and status LEDs helps ensure reliable operation. The module’s flash memory supports firmware upgrades, allowing you to keep the module current without hardware replacement. The operating temperature range of 0 to 60 °C suits most industrial control cabinets. Verify that ambient conditions stay within this range to prevent thermal stress. The module’s low power dissipation of 5.4 Watts minimizes heat buildup in dense backplane configurations.
Compatibility & Integration
The IC695ALG600 integrates directly with the PACSystems RX3i controller family. It communicates over the universal backplane, requiring no additional interface modules. The module is configured within the same Proficy Machine Edition environment used for the entire RX3i system. This unified software approach simplifies programming and reduces training time for maintenance personnel.
Selection Guide & Purchasing Advice
Before purchasing the IC695ALG600, confirm that your RX3i backplane has an available slot and that your firmware version meets the 2.80 minimum requirement. Verify that your terminal block type matches your wiring needs—extended blocks are preferred for shielded or thick-insulation wires.
